16. Sū-sū Ē Kòe
Ùi sèⁿ-miā ê chhiū,
Chi̍t hio̍h chi̍t hio̍h lak góa sin piⁿ.
Oh, sè-kài chhiong-móa hoaⁿ-hí,
Lí lo̍h-bóe kā góa chhiong móa,
Kā góa chhiong-móa phî-lô,
Koh hō͘ góa chiú-chùi!
Kin-á-ji̍t iáu hoat-kng ê
Chin kín tō bô--khì.
Chin kín, hong sńg-sńg--kiò
Chhoe-kòe góa chheⁿ-hng ê bōng,
Sè-hàn gín-á téng-koân
Lāu-bú àⁿ-sin lo̍h-lâi.
I ê ba̍k-chiu góa chin ài khòaⁿ,
I ê ba̍k-kng sī góa ê thiⁿ-chheⁿ,
Pa̍t-hāng lóng ē chhut-hiān koh siau-sit,
Ta̍k-hāng lóng ē sí, ta̍k-hāng, ē kái-thoat.
Kan-ta éng-hêng ê lāu-bú tī-leh,
Lán ùi i hia lâi,
I chéng-thâu-á siá lán ê miâ
Hoaⁿ-hí tī phiau-liû ê khong-khì tiong.

16. 事事會過
Ùi 性命 ê 樹,
一葉一葉 lak 我身邊.
Oh, 世界充滿歡喜,
你落尾 kā 我充滿,
Kā 我充滿疲勞,
Koh 予我酒醉!
今仔日猶發光 ê
真緊 tō 無去.
真緊, 風 sńg-sńg 叫
吹過我青荒 ê 墓,
細漢囡仔頂懸
老母 àⁿ 身落來.
伊 ê 目睭我真愛看,
伊 ê 目光是我 ê 天星,
別項 lóng 會出現 koh 消失,
逐項 lóng 會死, 逐項, 會解脫.
干焦永恆 ê 老母 tī-leh,
咱 ùi 伊遐來,
伊指頭仔寫咱 ê 名
歡喜 tī 飄流 ê 空氣中.

16. Things Pass
From the tree of life,
Leaf after leaf falls around me.
Oh, world delighted with ecstasy,
How you fill me at last,
How you fill me with weariness,
And make me drunk!
Whatever still glows today
Is soon lost.
Soon the wind rattles
Across my withered grave,
Over the small child
The mother bends down.
Her eyes are what I want to see,
Her gaze is my star,
Everything else can appear and vanish,
Everything die, everything, good riddance.
Only the eternal mother remains,
We came from her,
And her finger writes our names
Delighted on the fleeting air.
